About The Role

We understand that our continued growth is contingent on ensuring we build a thriving team and enable our people to do their best work. With that in mind, we are excited to add a Head of People to the Herd!

Reporting to the Founders, the Head of People will be responsible for creating a better operating system for our business and positively impacting the employee experience across our organization. We’re looking for someone who has established the People Operations function at an emerging business and has worked hand in hand with a Founder (or two!) to create engaging cultures, implement talent management programs, and strengthen internal communications initiatives. 

This role requires a breadth of People Operations experience and the ability to both define the strategic direction of the function while prioritizing and executing on the urgent needs and impactful opportunities that will move the needle near term.

This role will allow you to: 

  • Determine and oversee the strategic direction of the People function while prioritizing and executing on urgent needs and impactful near term opportunities 
  • Define and own the KPIs we use to measure health, safety, and effectiveness of our operation
  • Deliver programs and frameworks that drive engagement, growth, and retention 
  • Partner daily with Founders eager for a thought leader and open to feedback
  • Actively perpetuate an inclusive, equitable, collaborative working environment in which psychological safety comes first

About You

  • You’ve served in People Operations for at least ten years, including recent tenure in a leadership role at an early stage business
    • A generalist in nature, you have a depth of experience in core functions like compliance, employee engagement, performance management, and compensation
  • You communicate deftly at all levels of an organization, fostering alignment to a shared vision
  • You lead with empathy and influence, understanding the needs of others and allowing you and your partners and stakeholders to navigate ambiguity and conflict before they escalate
  • You are a culture catalyst that genuinely values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging 
  • You understand the importance of data, you balance it with strong emotional intelligence, and you know when to lead with each
  • You manage time and resources efficiently, ensuring that operations run smoothly without excess expenditure

Nice to Have, Though Not Required

  • Experience working on a distributed team, familiarity with remote communication tools
  • Experience in the home services or construction industry is highly desirable given the blended nature of our workforce
  • Passion for recruiting and a desire to work with hiring managers defining requirements, developing recruitment strategies, and outlining structured interview plans.

Total Compensation

  • Annual base salary of {$125,000-$165,000}, commensurate with experience and in line with internal compensation bands 
  • Stock options, commensurate with experience and in line with internal equity bands
  • Medical, dental insurance covered at 75% for employees
  • 401k with 6% company match
